Congratulations! The arrival of a new baby is a wonderful event. It is a time of joy, thanksgiving and celebration.
Soon you hope to be sharing in another wonderful event - your baby's Baptism. This, like the birth of your child, has to be prepared for.
Baptism, or Christening, is the sacrament by which we are born again of water and the Holy Spirit, and by which we are received into a new and spiritual life and become the Children of God.
What do I need to do?
Before having your baby baptised, you should be attending Mass regularly for at least a year in our parish. Having your baby Baptised is an important step and it needs to be thought about carefully. You, as parents, are undertaking to bring up your child to know and practise their faith and the faith of the Church. It is vitally important that you attend Mass in order to be able to do this.
