The Catenians are an Association of Catholic men. The Association provides opportunities for Catholics to meet socially. It gives support to members and their families. Our Aims and Values centre around Faith, Friendship, Family and Fun.
The Catenian Association started in UK just over 100 years ago and has spread to several other countries including Australia and India. It is organised into Circles of Catholic men that meet monthly across the country. It currently has about ten thousand members.
The Bracknell Circle meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Hilton Hotel on the Bagshot Road. We have a meeting followed by dinner. There are one or sometimes two social events each month. These include a dinner dance, theatre visits, walks and barbeques in the summer. We also visit other local Circles on their meeting nights. The Circle covers Bracknell and Crowthorne & Sandhurst Parishes.
Charities and Bursary Fund
Although we are mainly a social organisation the Circles support a charity each year. In the year up to April 2015 Bracknell Circle raised £1,760 for the Bracknell Foodbank and the Bracknell Life House. Last year our Circle charity was Cruse Bereavement Care and we raised £1,800. For the year 2016/17 we have chosen the Ascot and Bracknell conference of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) which is active across the pastoral area including in St Joseph and St Margaret Clitherow parish. The Catenian Association also has a Bursary fund that makes grants to assist young Catholics in their involvement in voluntary projects both at home and overseas.
